“Fall for Art” Juried Show, Art Sale, and Cocktail Reception Fundraiser

The 19th annual “Fall for Art” Fundraiser will feature 26 outstanding Hudson Valley artists in this popular art sale/cocktail reception. The event is a fundraiser for the Jewish Federation of Ulster County, which supports area not-for-profit organizations, including the Hudson Valley Food Bank, Family of Woodstock, CASA, People’s Place, Angel Food East, Jewish Family Services, and area synagogues, among others. Each year a special recipient is selected, and in 2015 Mental Health Services Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley has been invited to select $1,000 worth of artwork from the show, which will enhance their Kingston facility. 14th Annual Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest and Craft Beer Fest  

This popular celebration of the gourmet lifestyle in the Hudson Valley is now presenting the first Hudson Valley Craft Beer Fest. Marvel at hundreds of wines from all over New York and the world. Taste the finest craft beers from all over New York. Also enjoy more than 100 gourmet specialty food, fine art, and lifestyle vendors. Drum Boogie Festival 2015

The festival is a free, family-oriented, multi-cultural, one-day music festival celebrating the diverse styles of music, dance, and voice from around the world. This year’s festival will bring together world-class performers and introduce the audience to an assortment of musical styles for all ages, featuring jazz, rock, classical, African, Balinese, reggae, steel pan, and more. Fabulous food vendors on site and fun children’s activities. This year’s Drum Boogie Festival supports Family of Woodstock’s Domestic Violence Program and will be staffed by Family volunteers. Preschoolers in the Park: Insect Exploration

Share the excitement of your preschooler’s early experiences with nature as they engage in activities that will focus on sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Led by Laura Davis, Student Conservation Association/Americorps Intern. Topics will include amphibians, butterflies, blueberry picking, and more. Each outing includes a modest hike, and parents and children should come prepared to walk up to one mile. It’s recommended to bring food and water. The Burning of Kingston 

This spectacular re-enactment of the October 1777 British retaliation of Kingston—the new capital of New York State during the American Revolutionary War—is not something history buffs and residents will want to miss. There are three days of activities starting with the Friday evening opening reception held at the Hudson River Maritime Museum, 50 Rondout Landing, Kingston, from 4-7pm. Witness a 7pm re-enactment of Colonial Kingston “Committee of Safety” meeting at the historic Person House Museum at the four corners of the Stockade District.
