Letter from the Publishers of VISITvortex

the season that brings us home

August 02, 2026

Autumn is here, and it's a bittersweet time of year for many. It's back to school, summer vacations become memories, and life gradually returns to its familiar rhythm. It's the season when we settle back into our homes and routines after the relaxed pace of summer. At the same time, autumn has always been one of my favorite seasons. It's a time of reflection and going a little more inward. I love the changing light, long walks in the crisp air, and those cool evenings that bring deeper, more restful sleep. It's such a beautiful time of year to explore our region, and we hope you'll use this seasonal magazine as a local resource to help you do just that.

In this issue, be sure to visit the Table of Contents on page 5 to discover everything we've gathered for the season. Explore places to stay as autumn settles across the Hudson Valley, discover scenic hikes, experience the harvest at its peak on local farms, and follow the Shawangunk Wine Trail through one of the region's most beautiful seasons. Browse fall fashions from local boutiques, while our "A Day in the Life" series continues with a fascinating look inside the world of local antiques dealers. Meet the passionate owners behind beloved restaurants like Stone House Tavern and Savona's Trattoria, and enjoy delicious seasonal recipes from Meredith's Bread and Main Course in New Paltz. We've also included beautiful tablescape and centerpiece ideas inspired by the textures, colors, and natural beauty of autumn, helping you bring a little of the season indoors.

We're also especially excited to introduce so many new advertising partners in this issue. From amazing autumn events and new restaurants and businesses opening their doors throughout our region, we're thrilled to welcome them into the fabric of our community—and into the VISITvortex family. We hope you'll take time to discover them, support them, and help make them part of your own Hudson Valley story.

As always, thank you for picking up VISITvortex. We hope this issue inspires you to slow down, savor the season, support local, and discover something new along the way.

Be Drawn In.
