This retreat is open to all, and is ideal for anyone interested in starting, renewing, or deepening a meditation practice of any tradition. After engaging in silent sitting and walking meditation sessions, Roshi Nancy Baker will offer a dharma talk and lead a discussion focusing on what a "spiritual life" is and means in our current world. Optional beginning meditation instruction will be offered at 8:30am. People are also welcome to attend only the talk and discussion, and can register accordingly and plan to arrive at 10:45am.
Nancy (Mujo) Baker, Ph.D., is a Zen teacher in NYC and a dharma successor of Bernie Glassman. She was a professor of philosophy at Sarah Lawrence College where she taught for 40 years. Nancy brings deep understanding and integration of many spiritual and mystical traditions to her unique, heart-centered, feminist approach to practicing and teaching Zen and non-duality. She leads No Traces Zendo, a sangha that gathers for one-day Zazenaki retreats monthly in Riverdale, NY, and for long weekend retreats three times a year in Cornwall, NY and Conway, NH.
The April 8th retreat fee is $15 to cover costs, plus a discretionary donation for the teacher. RSVP and advance registration is needed by March 25th, in order to accommodate as many as want to participate.
