Mount Gulian, Beacon N.Y., is pleased to offer Outside Tours beginning September 18 through October 31. Tours of the Dutch barn, heritage garden, and historic landscape overlooking the Hudson River will be given Fridays and Saturdays at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

Although tours will not include the home’s interior due to the health emergency, visitors will hear about Mount Gulian’s centuries-long history that shaped our nation, including its part in the Revolutionary War as Patriot General Von Steuben’s headquarters. They’ll learn about the founding of the Society of the Cincinnati, our country’s oldest veterans’ organization, and the history of generations of Verplanck family members who lived at Mount Gulian. Visitors will discover the stories of James F. Brown, a fugitive slave who risked his life for freedom, and of Robert Newlin Verplanck’s participation in the Civil War as an officer in the US Colored Troops.

Admission is $10 adults, $8 seniors, $5 children (ages 6-18); free for children under 6 and Mount Gulian members. Membership is open to the public.

Please Note: Attendance will be limited to aid in social distancing and masks are required for all Mount Gulian staff and visitors. For safety during the pandemic, restrooms will not be available, to prevent community spread of the virus.

Advance reservations are preferred but walk-ins will be accommodated if safety limitations allow. For tour reservations or further information please call Mount Gulian at 845.831.8172 or email at info@mountgulian.org.
