Stop by Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site to help celebrate the 239th birthday of the United States of America and kick off Yonkers’ citywide events for Independence Day! Attendees will experience a wide range of crafts, reenactors and activities including: dress up clothes, cavalry demonstrations, Declaration of Independence readings and signings, games and toys from the 1700s. The public will also be able to tour the manor hall for a nominal fee. The event is taking place on Saturday, July 4th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with cavalry riding demonstrations at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Declaration of Independence Readings at 12:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. The festivities will conclude with a special appearance and speech from Mayor Mike Spano at 5:45 p.m. Philipse Manor Hall is located at 29 Warburton Ave. in Yonkers, just blocks from the Yonkers train station and adjacent to Van der Donck Park.
