World-renowned Russian fortepianist Alexei Lubimov will perform sonatas by Beethoven and Dussek on a Broadwood grand piano, followed by a selection of works by Chopin, Glinka, Field, and Pleyel on an 1840 Pleyel piano.
Born in Moscow in 1944, Alexei Lubimov is one of the most strikingly original and outstanding pianists performing today. Following studies at the Moscow Conservatory, Lubimov early in life established a dual passion for Baroque music performed on traditional instruments and for 20th century composers.
