Rhinebeck, NY, November 10, 2015 —This week marks Nectar’s tenth anniversary of its first retail store opening in High Falls, NY in November 2005. This milestone is one of many along with the addition of a second shop in Rhinebeck (located at 47 E Market Street) in May, the launch of a new ecommerce website just last month (www.shopnectar.com), and an upcoming photo installation of local photographer Francesco Mastalia’s book Organic to celebrate a decade of bringing beauty and consciousness to the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Nectar offers a rare blend of handcrafted home décor, art, reclaimed furniture & architectural elements exclusively imported from abroad or sourced domestically, fun children's items, hand poured candles, jewelry, tabletop & kitchenware, statuary, sustainably sourced gifts & local organic edibles. Jenny Wonderling founded Nectar ten years ago with the vision to create a place that evokes a sense of travel and an appreciation for beautiful world craftsmanship, while being mindfully sourced. Most items are handmade and imbibed with a story of inspiring change in the artisans and their communities, both abroad and locally. Nectar has always passionately promoted a healthy and conscious lifestyle, one cup of organic tea and genuine conversation at a time. Amongst the mix of reclaimed wood furnishings, local organic edibles, and Fair Trade products that transform communities abroad, Francesco Mastalia's arresting portraits are the perfect complement that communicates the urgency of our responsibility to be loving stewards of our world. Organic focuses its lens on the crucial effort of the organic farmer and chefs committed to supporting them in the Hudson Valley- a mere microcosm that tells of a much larger, global story. “ ” states Wonderling. Mastalia will also be showcasing his antique large format camera and explaining the technique behind his mid-19th century wet plate collodion process. Organic perpetuates the urgent dialogue surrounding the integrity behind our food, how things are grown and animals are raised, and how we impact one another both locally and globally. What a perfect cohort to reflect some of the topics that matter most at Nectar's core!
We will be donating 10% of all party sales to the non-profit Rondout Valley Growers Association, which invigorates the economic health of local family-run farms and their communities.
