Fine Art Auction presented by the James Cox Gallery at the Arts Society of Kingston and simultaneously at www.liveauctioneers.com attracts consignments of quality and sophisticated taste. More than 280 lots include historic Woodstock Art Colony art, historic Hudson Valley and Kingston art, American and European oil paintings, watercolors, sculpture, fine prints, photography, artifacts, and vintage posters. Modern and mid-20th-century American painters and print makers are also represented. Fine examples of French Impressionist paintings, modern prints, original jewelry, objects d'art, and collectibles round out the sale. Auction previews will be held on Thursday, June 4, 12 to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 12 to 6 p.m. (includes a cocktail reception), and Sunday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A Q&A with James Cox will take place on Friday, June 5, from 1 to 6 p.m. In addition, a panel discussion with Geoffrey Miller, Vernon Benjamin, William Rhodes, and James Cox will highlight approximately twenty works in the auction that were inspired by the beauty, topography, architecture and commercial activities of the cities and towns along the Hudson River--areas that Woodstock artists found of particular interest. Artworks depicting Kingston and the Rondout waterfront will also be discussed. The previews, Q&A, and panel discussion are FREE events. The Auction will take place on Sunday, June 7, beginning at 1 p.m. For more information call the James Cox Gallery at (845) 679-7608.
